Ayub Baloch is an Anthropologist and holds a Masterin Sociology/Anthropology as well as Development Studies from Erasmus University, the Netherlands. Ayub Baloch is working as the Honorary Director of the Institute of Balochistan Studies, Quetta, a research institute founded by him in 1995, dedicated to the study of Balochistan, its people and their culture. He is a playwright and a short story writer as well. He had served as Secretary to Government of Balochistan for about a decade. He founded various Departments and Institutions for the Government of Balochistan in his capacity as Secretary and has to his credit creation of an IT University for Balochistan named Balochisntan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) in 2002.

   He also initiated annual literary awards in 2001 for best books published in languages such as Balochi, Brahui, Pashto, Urdu that continues till date. Mr. Baloch has extensively written on the 9000 years old Neolithic Mehrgarh civilization of Balochistan and his work had been published within country and abroad. In recognition of his outstanding contribution, the Honourable President of Pakistan has conferred on Ayub Baloch the President’s Pride of Performance Award in the field of Literature, History/Heritage in 2015. Similarly, the Government of Balochistan had awarded him the Balochisntan Excellence Award in Culture & Heritage in 2018.

   Ayub Baloch had been elected as General Secretary of Balochi Academy for three consecutive terms from 1986 to 1995. He had represented Pakistan in various countries and presented papers to conferences organised by various prestigious institutions/organisations including UNESCO. He is a visiting heritage scholar delivering lectures to seminars, conferences, Universities etc. at provincial as well as national levels.

   Ayub Baloch had also been designated as the "Book Ambassador" by the Pakistan National Book Foundation, Islamabad.
