The Institute of Balochistan Studies was founded in 1995 at Quetta with the aim to study Balochistan, its people, culture and heritage scientifically. It has come a long way serving knowledge-seekers selflessly and by the grace of Allah, its humble role has been well recognised not only by the beneficiaries but also by the Provincial Government, Federal Government, NGOS, UNESCO, Universities and delegations visiting Balochistan from other Provinces and abroad. The Institute has also been instrumental to creating books, publications, articles, country reports and holding seminars and conferences on Balochistan.

to encourage and promote research and studies about Culture & Heritage of Balochistan particularly as the cradle of early-civilzation, linking the contemporary times to the 9000 years old Neolithic Mehrgarh.
to facilitate free of charge, the students, the teachers, the researchers and knowledge seekers with materials on culture and heritage of Balochistan through our Resource Centre and Library comprising about 40,000 books/ebooks covering mainly Balochistan, Pakistan, Culture, Heritage, Research Methods and a host of subjects.
to inspire youth to take up writing thesis, term papers, research articles and books on Balochistan with objectivity and authenticity utilising the diverse rich collection of the Institute of Balochistan Studies, free of charge.
to deliver lectures on Culture & Heritage of Balochistan in universities and other educational institutions as well as organisations with the view to developing the due love and respect for their incredible heritage passed on to them from successive generations, recognising it as the bedrock of their identity.
to hold lecture sessions, round tables, group discussions, seminars and conferences as well as publishing books and monographs in accordance with the available resources highlighting the distinguished strength of Balochistan in terms of culture and heritage.
to help provide, when asked for, expert as Member of Board of Governors, Senate Member, Syndicate Member, Selection Board Member to Universities, as well as to the Provincial Government Departments and Federal Ministries, to represent Balochistan.
to promote a culture of book reading among the youth of Balochistan across the board.
to work for the welfare of intellectuals, writers, researchers and cultural experts with regard to their due rights including awards for their books & outstanding services and nominations for various awards including ‘Pride of Performance’ and ‘Life Achievement Awards’ etc.
To strive diligently and comprehensively help build a knowledge-based educated image of Balochistan in the country, the diaspora and globally, by making the Institute of Balochistan Studies a hub of liaison as well as a storehouse of authentic Resource Materials on the Province and the Country.

To open branches of the Institute of Balochistan Studies in various Districts of the Province with the above outlined program in accordance with the availability of necessary resources.
The Institute of Balochistan plans to take Heritage Lectures to Colleges and Schools of Balochistan as part of awareness programme with a view to enhance Heritage Literacy Step by Step.
